33rd Annual Washington Heights Spooktacular

Washington Heights Spooktacular is back for its 33rd year of Nighttime Trick-or-Treating. We are excited to bring together the neighborhood for a fun and safe event for all ages. Here are all the details you need to know to participate in WHNA’s most anticipated event of the year – Spooktacular.
This year’s Spooktacular will take place rain or shine on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM in Area 2 of the neighborhood (north side of Washington Boulevard to south side of Lloyd from the east side of 47th Street to 51st Street (both sides).
SPOOKTACULAR REGISTRATION
All children who wish to trick-or-treat must register ahead of time at any of the registration events. At registration each child will receive this year’s Washington Heights Spooktacular trick-or-treat bag that must be used and visible during Spooktacular in order to receive candy. Register ahead of time to save time and money.
SPOOKTACULAR REGISTRATION EVENTS
Pre-Registration Events
Saturday, October 21 • 10AM-Noon & Tuesday, October 24 • 4PM-7PM
Saint Sebastian Parish (5400 W. Washington Blvd)
Registration will take place inside the Gathering Space (enter through the double doors from 54th Street)
$5/child for current WHNA members. $10/child for non-members. Cash, check, Venmo and credit card accepted at registration.
Day of Registration
Saturday, October 28
10AM-Noon at Saint Sebastian Parish (5400 W. Washington Blvd)

SPOOK CENTRAL
Saturday, October 28 • Open from 4:00PM-7:00PM
Located in outdoors on Hi-Mount just north of the Washington Blvd. intersection.
Spook Central is where all the fun begins for Spooktacular. Plan to walk to Spook Central if you need to register to trick-or-treat on Saturday night, want to grab a bite to eat from the food truck, participate in the costume contest or just want to check out all the great costumes. For everyone’s safety no pets or smoking permitted at Spook Central.
Additionally, Spook Central may be used throughout the event as a meeting place for you and your family members if you become separated.
- 4:00PM-7:00PM Day of Registration at Spook Central: $10.00 per child for members and non-members. Cash, check, Venmo or credit card accepted.
- 4:00PM-8:00PM Food Truck
- 4:00PM-8:00PM Vennture Brew Co serving hot and cold beverages for adult and children (hot chocolate)
- 6:00PM Costume Contest Sponsored by Rainbow Booksellers
- Gather at Spook Central for the opportunity to win fabulous prizes. Be sure to be in costume if you want to be included in the judging. Don’t be late because the contest starts at 6PM sharp! All ages (children to adult) welcome, as well as themed groups.
- 6:30PM-8:30PM Trick-or-Treating throughout Area 2 – RAIN OR SHINE!
- Trick-or-treat will take place throughout Area 2 (see neighborhood map for boundaries) from 6:30PM-8:30PM.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS PUMPKIN DISPLAY
6:30PM-8:30PM
Visit the Washington Heights carved pumpkin display for a photo opportunity and enjoy all the decorated homes throughout Area 2. This year’s pumpkin display will be located at 1825 N. 48th Street.
